"There were two times for making big money, one in the upbuilding of a country and the other in its destruction. Slow money on the upbuilding, fast money in the crack-up."
i've been seeing you complaining about our government and system for ages... surely there are flaws in the system but which country doesn't have their own problems? unbounded cynicism may cloud your judgement. that's the dangerous part.
btw, there's no such thing called absolute truth or unbiased report in this world. it's sad, however, it's totally understandable. so just get used to that.
your book reviews are way better than your political comments. have you ever thought of exploiting your "comparative advantage"? :o)
i've met people who constantly criticize and complain about their governments and i dont see that they get any happier by doing this. then why bother?
isn't it ironical that many cynics are doomed to stay in the country which they loathe throughout their lives? i cant help wondering, is that a predestined punishment for them? what a shame...
it's all about facing the reality and adapting oneself to the changing world. no culture is superior to the other; yet the fact is, all cultures are interdependent and interwoven today. we can be easily influenced by other cultures and we can do the same to them. to maintain one's own culture is no easy task. this is the problem that every culture is facing today, not just for tibetans. but incapability to reconcile this conflict doesn't justify the violence. they should be more flexible and play strategically.
it is very noble that you guys are not only sympathetic but also empathetic. i have no doubt about that.
by "being optimistic" i meant not to give up even in the worst adversity.
optimism doesn't serve us meals at the dinner table yet it can cheer us up and keep our heads up high when facing the most difficult situations in our lives, which are unavoidable.
i'm not an optimist myself. but again, i don't think people should ever lose heart.
whether life is full of desperation or hope is just a state of mind. sometimes sickness can be a blessing in disguise. you never know. it depends on how you look at it. anyway, life is sacred, no matter how painful.
btw, we only live once. imho, to live as an optimist and spread the happiness and hope to people around you does more good to the society than an pessimist. :-)
怪政府除了让自己更加沮丧外,并不会make a change for the better。:o))
