Mr. L, if you are seeking a mundanely happy life, then for starters, you addressed your problems to the wrong person. Dr. R does not know more about that than you do. (no offense!)
One thing that I have learned from Economics is how to make irreversible (and optimal) decisions in the presence of uncertainty; another is the concept of utility. It is unique for everyone. Therefore you should use your own head.
If this sounds unfamiliar to you, maybe it is time to wipe out the prejudice about 经济学是无用的 and take a course in the essentials of economics. :-)
At first glance, I thought this blog entry was an April Fool's joke; on second thought, maybe it is not.
Reasonable doubt is a good thing. People may get inspired and stimulated by a certain degree of doubt towards existing theories or rules; yet too much doubt and suspicion only reflects, on one hand, one's insecurity, and on the other hand, one's arrogance.
When it comes to religion (especially Christianity), a quote from Saint Augustine would serve my purpose, "Faith is to believe what you do not yet see; the reward for this faith is to see what you believe."
It takes guts to be truly religious. Not everyone is brave enough to take that step.

Bobby has very good arguments, but it seems to be a waste to paste them here. you have to be realistic or rational enough to appreciate them.
