Of every 100 Shanghai residents between 35 and 74 years old, 16 are diabetics in 2009. Among them, 6 are undiagnosed.
Meanwhile, the country now has more than 92.4 million diabetics, the most in the world. Over half of the nation’s diabetics are undiagnosed.
Now, diabetes has accounted for about 13% of medical expenditures in China.
Rather appalling, isn’t it?
